As of January 1st 2014, all taxpayers1 who use a computerized accounting system must provide this accounting entry file in the event of a tax audit. This file must comply with a given structure and standards, as defined in article A 47 A-1 of the LPF, allowing this file to be imported, read, or both, in data analysis software.

As of January 1st 2013, all companies must comply with these regulations for all tax audits related to closed fiscal years.

In the event a company could not produce those digitalized accounting documents, a minimum penalty of €1,500 would apply for each audited year or fiscal year, potentially subject to a percentage increase based on the reported turnover or revenues.
In this scenario, it could be considered that the company is avoiding the tax audit, triggering an automatic taxation. To comply with these regulations, the flat file format has been chosen.
Using dedicated functions and by defining the two standard pivot files, you can use Sage X3 to generate the FEC file containing all the accounting entries recorded during a fiscal year, in compliance with the standards specified in article A 47 A1 of the LPF.

This document describes the functions dedicated to this requirement and how to use them.
